Matt and his wife Brittany are both from families of 9 children. Together they had 5 boys and then finally a girl.  Matt received an Associate’s degree from BYU-Idaho, a Bachelor’s of Music in music education from BYU, a Master’s in Religious Education from BYU and a PhD in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.  He has been the director of bands at the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah, and then a seminary teacher for 15 years.  In 2017 he began working with the Institute Choir at Utah Valley University.  In this capacity, he has directed choirs that have sung at worldwide and regional broadcasts, as well as general conference.  He has been full-time at the institute directing the Utah Valley Institute Singers since April 2024.  Matt enjoys finding good deals, playing games, movie nights with his family, and not camping.  He is filled with gratitude for his eternal companion and the privilege it is to have every day with her and their children.
